Good question. It's a whole package of being available cross-platform, easy entry, works similar to my bullet journal, I can add images and link, and the community is awesome. I also like how users can share their content and notes like a social media/blog.

I would suggest Upnote. It has a few features from Evernote, cheap with lifetime purchase, web clipper, backlinks, searchable to do lists and collapsing sections.
